What is Spinal Manipulation Therapy?

Spinal manipulation

Spinal manipulation is a type of passive therapy performed by chiropractors where a thrust to a joints near end range of motion is delivered. Often an audible “click” can be heard when performed.

What’s it used for?

Spinal manipulation is used with the goal of achieving targeted pain relief to areas of the spine where patients are experiencing pain or stiffness. It can also improve range of motion.

What conditions can spinal manipulation treat?

Manipulation therapy can often be a sole treatment or used as an adjunct alongside other treatments such as soft tissue work. When visiting a chiropractor they will attempt to rule out other causes of pain and decide if spinal manipulation is suitable for a patient’s pain complaint.

It’s often used to treat:

– Low back pain

– Upper/mid-back pain

– Neck pain
